To prevent users from view or changing properties of the Distributed FileSystem shares available from their computer, you can implement the Disable DFS tab Group Policy at User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Windows Explorer. When this policy is enabled, the DFS tab is removed from Windows Explorer and My Computer.

NOTE: This policy does NOT prevent users from using other methods to configure DFS.

The Disable DFS tab Group Policy adds the NoDFSTab Value Name, a REG_DWORD data type, at HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer. When the policy is Enabled, the data value is set to 1. When the policy is Disabled or Not configured, the data value is 0, or the NoDFSTab Value Name is missing.
