After you install Windows XP using Sysprep, the computer stops responding for long periods and when running, it is slow.

If you open Device Manager, a yellow exclamation mark appears next to some audio-related devices.

The System event log contains:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event ID: 7011
Description: Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from .......

This behavior is symptomatic of using the -pnp parameter when you ran Sysprep on the master computer.

NOTE: If you have to add OEM device drivers to the Sysprep Setup, use the OemPnPDriversPath= line in the Sysprep.inf file. See How to Add OEM Plug and Play Drivers to Windows XP.

NOTE: See How to Use Sysprep with Windows Product Activation or Volume License Media to Deploy Windows XP.
