Intel Corporation is preparing to release an OverDrive processor forexisting Pentium Pro systems that includes the PII socket and processorset in a package that plugs into PPro motherboards. Intel claims that thePentium II OverDrive will offer "significantly faster speeds" over thefastest Pentium Pro, a 200 MHz version. The OverDrive will also allowPentium Pro users to take advantage of upcoming SRAM technology that supports automatic error-correction in RAM. Intel is expected to release233, 266, and 300 MHz versions of the Pentium II OverDrive. The 300 MHzPentium II will be available in quantity this fall
