Microsoft is releasing a June beta of Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0, code-named "K2." This public beta will feature tight integration withMicrosoft Transaction Server and provide for process isolation. In thecurrent version, ISAPI applications must run within the process space ofIIS. IIS 4 also adds thread management features, Web site usage statisticsand other reporting capabilities. Automatic crash recovery will enableerrant Web applications to be restarted.

Active Server Pages are updated with a new debugging tool, and server-sidecomponents for SMTP mail, threaded discussion groups, and uploading capability. A beta of Index Server 2.0 will accompany the news IIS, offering search capabilities for Office 97 document types and Adobe PDF
