I'm looking for a Windows 2000 and Windows NT fax product that will let users send faxes directly from their email application (e.g., by typing a fax number in the To field). Our clients run Win2K, NT 4.0, and Windows 9x systems. Any suggestions?

A. Plenty of fax server products can integrate with products such as Microsoft Exchange Server and Outlook to accomplish the functionality you desire. Many of these products act as email-to-fax gateways and offer special address types that understand when to send information to your fax application rather than to your email application. Most of these products also give you special fax clients, in addition to an SMTP gateway option. However, fax clients require additional software installation and aren't as easy to deploy in enterprise environments that are already mail-enabled. I recommend checking out http://www.ntfaxfaq.com, which provides a comprehensive listing of Win2K and NT fax products.
