As reported earlier in WinInfo, Intel will soon announce sweeping pricecuts in its line of microprocessors in an effort to stave off competition.Intel is also due to premier its Pentium II CPU in two weeks, a Pentium Pro-class chip with MMX capabilities. Originally scheduled for the debutwere 233 and 266 MHz versions of the new CPU, but Intel has decided torelease the 300 MHz version as well, six months ahead of schedule. The300 MHz Pentium II processor will initially be very expensive, but the price will drop by October.

Prices of Intel's Pentium 166 are expected to drop to the $100 range, making it the new low-end chip
