A study released today by Information and Interactive Services Reportstates that an estimated 18 million people were using the Internet andmajor online services by the end of 1996. If current trends continue, over 30 million people will be online by the end of this year. This figure, by the way, totally contradicts Netscape's claim of 30 millionNavigator "users" since roughly half that many people were online whenthe claim was made.

It is likely that most online growth this year will occur overseas as growth in the United States is slowing.
