Grisoft Changes Its Name

Grisoft, maker of a popular cross-platform security solutions, announced that it has changed its name to AVG Technologies.

Grisoft, maker of a popular cross-platform security solutions, announced that it has changed its name to AVG Technologies. The name change also applies to all of its international subsidiaries.

The company said that the name change is designed to help raise awareness of its AVG brand. According to the company, a recent poll revealed that in the United States AVG is the third most widely recognized brand in terms of antivirus solutions. AVG recognition is surpassed only by Symantec's Norton brand and McAfee.

"The change in name is primarily intended to enhance awareness of the AVG brand in the world", said J.R. Smith, Chief Executive Officer of AVG Technologies. "By aligning our corporate identity with our brand identity, we expect to significantly increase the effectiveness of our marketing activities and other communications.”
