If you wish to drag and drop a file or folder from Windows Explorer to the Recycle Bin, but the Recycle Bin icon is obscured by one or more Windows, you would normally have to minimized the obscuring windows, or use the Show Desktop icon to minimize them all, or use the Windows Key + D to toggle Show Desktop, then Restore the Windows Explorer window to complete the drag and drop.

NOTE: See tip 2892 How do I re-create the Show Desktop icon on my Quick Launch toolbar?

Here is an easier way:

1. Drag the file or folder to an empty spot on your Taskbar, continuing to hold the mouse button down.

2. After a few seconds, the windows that were obscuring the Recycle Bin are automatically minimized.

3. Continue dragging the file or folder on top of the Recycle Bin icon and drop it (release the mouse button).
