The value proposition of a data center energy audit is that the analysis is likely to identify savings that allow companies to quickly recoup the cost of the audit. If you're skeptical, energy audits are now starting to come with guarantees. This week Acumen Solutions and KTA Group introduced a data center energy audit with a savings guarantee - if the analysis doesn't find recommendations for savings that equal or exceed the cost of the audit, the audit is free.

The guarantee applies to any data centers with over 5,000 square feet of space or over 150 servers in operation, and includes an evaluation of the facilities, electrical, heating & cooling as well as an assessment of the equipment, the network and the applications. The new Acumen/KTA audit program was launched at The Uptime Institute Symposium 2009 this week in New York.

"The energy audits Acumen Solutions and KTA perform give companies the big picture and a broad spectrum of options enabling them to save money faster and more," says Shally Bansal Stanley, Managing Director of Global Services at Acumen Solutions. "The Data Center Energy Audit enables Fortune 500 or large federal or state agencies to identify reductions in energy consumption, one of the quickest ways to ‘green’ the data center and hence the enterprise."

Acumen Solutions and KTA Group are partnering on both the audits and data center energy optimization. KTA is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and has several staffers specializing in designing for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard for certifying energy efficient “green” buildings. Acumen Solutions has 10 years of experience optimizing technology and data centers for Fortune 500 and eight of the 15 cabinet level agencies in the federal government.
