SonicWALL introduced a new line of email security appliances that fit the full range of businesses from large enterprises to small businesses (SMBs). The devices offer anti-spam and anti-phishing features plus anti-virus protection. The company partnered with McAfee and Kaspersky to bring customers protection from the time when a new virus makes it appearance to the time that a new anti-virus signature update becomes available.
The devices also offer an LDAP/Exchange Accelerator for integratation with Microsoft Exchange as well as other LDAP-based directory services to provide single sign-on capabilities, and user and mailbox management. Designed for low maintenance overhead, SonicWALL said the new appliances require only 10 minutes of management per week.
"Today's launch brings enterprise-class email security within the reach of businesses of all sizes: our commitment to our mid-sized customers is unwavering, and we are very pleased today to extend a better email protection choice to millions of SMBs," said Matthew Medeiros, president and chief executive officer at SonicWALL. "Smaller organizations should not have to decide between effectiveness and price. Our product set provides the same level of protection and policy enforcement to all our customers."
The new appliances are based on technology gained when SonicWALL acquired MailFrontier in February 2006. MailFrontier was the recipient of numerous awards including Editors' Choice from CNet, Network Computing, and ITWeek as well as SC Magazine Readers' Trust Award for Best Content Security Solution and Best Anti-Spam Solution.
Pricing for the new appliances start at $995 and purchase requires an annual support subscription.
