How can I encrypt email at server level?
December 21, 1999
A. If you wish to use email encryption at server level, not at clientlevel, you need to use a 3rd party product. The difference between encrypting atserver level and not at client level is as follows:
You can still virus check & content check attachments.
You do not need to setup keys for all users.
There is less administration and no need for user education.
One of the downsides is that you can not do it with the Exchange securityfeatures. You need to use a 3rd party product. Some of these products are:
Mail essentials for Exchange/SMTP - supports S/MIME & PGP encryption www.mailessentials.com
Secretsweeper - supports S/MIME encryption - www.mimesweeper.com
Tenfour - supports S/MIME & PGP encryption www.tenfour.com
