The query design view is divided in two panes. The upper pane displays the tables you have selected for use in the query. The lower pane shows the query-by-example grid, in which you build the query or request.
The query-by-example (QBE) grid specifies the requests you are making with this query. Each column of the grid represents a field that will be used by the query. The field will be displayed in the dynaset unless you clear the Show box. You can specify a sort order and filter criteria for the field. Finally, you can create summary calculations for the field.
Many of the cells, or boxes, in the QBE grid contain drop-down lists, but those lists will only appear when you click in the cell.
