In Windows 2000 and Windows XP, you cannot separately enable / disable Client for Microsoft Networks and File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks because Group Policy only uses a single bit to store the enable / disable setting for both features.

To workaround this behavior, you could open the Rasphone.pbk and locate NETCOMPONENTS=.

Change the ms_server=n and ms_msclient=n

where n is 0 for disable and 1 for enable.

NOTE: You can copy the Rasphone.pbk file to individual users at "%UserProfile%Application DataMicrosoftNetworkConnectionsPbkRasphone.pbk".

NOTE: Proxy settings are located in the registry at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet SettingsConnections.

NOTE: See Additional information about the Remote Access service.

NOTE: See Additional information about the RSAENTRY structure.
