The report may look similar to:

11/17/2003 17:05 65.54.240.61 port 7001 to Local IP address port 1052

Microsoft Windows Messenger (version 4.0 or later), or MSN Messenger (version 5.0 or later), uses a server at the above IP address to detect if your computer is behind a firewall or NAT (Network Address Translation), so it can determine if your connection supports video conferencing, voice (computer-to-computer calling), or phone calling (computer-to-phone calling).

You can safely ignore this report.
