If you disable a COM port in Device Manager and subsequently use the Add Hardware Wizard on an ACPI based Windows computer, the disabled COM port is detected as new hardware.

To workaround this problem, do NOT press Install Communication Port when the COM port is detected by the Add Hardware Wizard.

NOTE: If you installed the COM port, use Device Manager to delete all the inactive COM ports. When you restart, the COM ports will be properly detected.
