JSI Tip 5305. Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0 issue 'Incompatible version of the RPC stub'?

During a program install, you receive:

Unhandled Exception

Error: 0x80070725
Description: Incompatible version of the RPC stub.

Setup will now terminate.

This error is caused by any program that installs different versions of the following files (possibly others):

Asycfilt.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Olepro32.dll
Stdole2.tlb

If Microsoft Office 2000 or one of its components is installed on your computer, install Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1), to re-register the files.

If you don't have Microsoft Office 2000 or one of its components, run Mcrepair.exe to re-register the files.

NOTE: Shutdown and restart after installing Mcrepair.exe.
