When you run System Monitor to collect data, you receive 'PerfDisk' errors in the Application Event Log, even though you are not using any disk counters?
The errors are similar to:
4/11/2001 3:24:09 PM Perflib Error None 1008 N/A ACOMPUTER"The Open Procedure for service ""PerfDisk"" in DLL ""D:WINNTsystem32perfdisk.dll"" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. Status code returned is data DWORD 0. "4/11/2001 3:24:09 PM Perflib Error None 1008 N/A ACOMPUTER"The Open Procedure for service ""PerfDisk"" in DLL ""D:WINNTsystem32perfdisk.dll"" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. Status code returned is data DWORD 0. "4/11/2001 3:24:09 PM PerfDisk Error None 2001 N/A ACOMPUTER Unable to read the disk performance information from the system.Disk performance counters must be enabled for at least one physical disk or logical volume in order for these countersto appear. Disk performance counters can be enabled by using the Hardware Device Manager property pages. Status code returned is data DWORD 0.
You have disabled the Logical and Physical Disk performance counters by using the diskperf -N command.
To prevent the entries from being logged, run diskperf -N or use Regedt32 to navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesPerfDiskPerformance. On the Edit menu, Add Value name Disable Performance Counters, a REG_DWORD data type, and set the data value to 1.
