JSI Tip 3860. Windows 2000 'Add/Remove Programs' issues Mshta.exe error?

When you use Control Panel / AddRemove Programs, you receive:

Mshta.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.

To fix this problem:

1. Open a CMD prompt and type:

SFC /PURGECACHE
SFC /SCANNOW

NOTE: You may be prompted for the CD-ROM. See tip 2076.

If this does not resolve the issue, do an inplace upgrade of Windows 2000 and reapply your latest Service Pack and Hotfixes.
