Using the client setup disk that you create with the Manage Server Console is a lot easier.

The steps to manually configure a W9x client are:

1. Create a user account in the Manage Users Console.

2. TCP/IP must be installed and configured for DHCP. Avoid static WINS, DNS, and default gateway settings, unless required by an existing network.

3. Use tip 248 to configure domain connectivity.

4. Restart the client.

The steps to manually configure a WinNT client are:

1. Create a user account in the Manage Users Console.

2. Use Server Manager to create a machine account for the Windows NT Workstation.

3. TCP/IP must be installed and configured for DHCP. Avoid static WINS, DNS, and default gateway settings, unless required by an existing network.

4. Use Control Panel / Network / Identification tab to change to the SBS domain name.

5. Restart the client.

The clients should now be able to logon to the SBS domain.

Install some or all the client applications from the SBS server. The applications are located at \SBSservernameclientsms
