KB (Knowledge Base) article Q152078 describes a process for determining your computer's role by inspecting the registry. A much safer way to determine wether your computer is a Domain Controller, Server, or Workstation is to type: net accounts at a command prompt. The Computer role is the last line of the resultant display, as the figure shows.As an added benefit, you can see the password policies set for your computer.
