Companies moving SharePoint to the cloud have a lot to think about—not least, how to move data. BitTitan’s Migration Wiz is designed to ease the move to (and from) a cloud-based platform by automating some of the more onerous aspects of the task.
Announced at SharePoint Fest this week, the MigrationWiz update will support document migrations—including permissions, document libraries and lists--to and from Microsoft SharePoint Online, including SharePoint 2010 and 2013, as well as from File Server. MigrationWiz also lets users move mailboxes and documents together, streamlining the migration process and helping to eliminate potential stumbling blocks.
Products like MigrationWiz will be important as companies evaluate their existing SharePoint implementations in the context of the forthcoming SharePoint 2016 and Office 365. Migration systems are also key for companies in acquisition mode or otherwise merging systems from platform to platform.
"SharePoint is a popular platform. But until now, when partners and companies wanted to move to the cloud, they needed to migrate their mailboxes and documents separately using different applications and processes," said Geeman Yip, CEO of BitTitan, in a press release. "By being able to use just one solution for all their migration needs, companies can ensure everything works seamlessly.”
The SharePoint document management piece will be available in May.
