Q A

Q: Is the SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition licensed per user and, if so, is it limited to a single user at a time?

A: The SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition is licensed per developer at $50 per developer. It's not limited to a single user connection.

Multiple users and developers can connect to a single instance of the SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition. However, you do need to purchase licenses for each developer that is using the SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition.

The SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition has the same feature set as the SQL Server 2014 Enterprise edition, but you're only permitted to use it for development and testing. It cannot be used for production workloads. You can find out more about SQL Server 2014 licensing at How to buy SQL Server.
