SQL Server 2012 SP2 Now Supported for SCCM 2012 SP1 and R2

Each month, Microsoft makes steady progress toward ensuring that all new products and new releases can work with existing products. When updates or new versions are released, it usually takes some time before Microsoft will give the green light for interoperability for some of the larger applications like System Center Configuration Manager. Each new update must be tested to ensure supportability and also to determine if the update might break something important.

In this month's support announcement, Microsoft is giving its certification for SQL Server 2012 SP2 to run as a Site database for System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 and System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager. In addition, the reporting services point site system and client status reporting feature is also supported.

This means, those waiting to apply service pack 2 to SQL Server 2012 can go ahead and start the update when ready.
