JSI Tip 10286. Event ID: 1202 occurs when you run a program that uses the Kerberos protocol to authenticate a user or host identity on Windows Server 2003?

When a program uses the Kerberos version 5 protocol to authenticate a user or host identity on Windows Server 2003, the System event log may record a message similar to:

Event ID: 1202
Description: The time delta between node and node is in 100 nanosecs.

This behavior will occur when a time-sensitive program, one that uses a time stamp, runs on the computer that uses the Kerberos protocol.

This message is informational and is only a problem if the time delta is 5 minutes or more.

Kerberos uses the SkewTime Value Name, the maximum time difference that is permitted between the client computer and the server that accepts the Kerberos protocol authentication.
