Big? Bigger? Biggest? Dell creates Extreme Scale Infrastructure to better suit your needs

Whether you're the biggest in the world or just really, really big, Dell wants you to know that it is here to help. The company announced that it was reorganizing its Data Center Solution (DCS) and Datacenter Scalable Solutions (DSS) into one organization, Extreme Scale Infrastructure, reporting up to James Mouton, formerly a senior vice president at HP.

In a blog post announcing the shift, Mouton said that while Dell was one of the first companies to specifically target hyperscale companies (like Facebook, Google, and Amazon), a lot of those technologies and solutions also were being tapped to serve just-below-hyperscale customers like researchers, oil & gas companies, and telecoms.

"Dell’s unique strategy and commitment to hyperscale and sub-hyperscale is what attracted me to join the company nearly two months ago as the vice president and general manager for this division," Mouton wrote, introducing the new organization.

Dell's Datacenter Scalable Solutions was announced in August, and is focused heavily on highly customized solutions. According to eWeek, the unit has been running in "stealth" in early last year, only coming out publicly now after seeing strong early results.
