While the average salary for this survey was $78,649, higher salaries are seen in areas of the US with a higher cost of living. IT professionals in Washington DC bring in the highest salaries with a mean of $93,499. And Wyoming brings in the lowest with a mean of $52,000. Pacific states show the highest salaries at $89,900, and the Mid-Atlantic follows at $83,249. States with the highest salaries are Virginia, New Jersey, California, Maryland, and New York. The states with the lowest average salaries are Wyoming, Idaho, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Alabama.
