Q: I’m trying to migrate a Microsoft Access 2007 database to SQL Server 2008. However, I found that Access’ built-in Database Upsizing Wizard doesn’t work with SQL Server 2008. How do I migrate my Access database to SQL Server 2008?

A: Microsoft released a new set of tools for converting various databases to SQL Server 2008. The new tools are a collection of programs called the SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) 2008.  One of these tools is SSMA 2008 for Access, which you can download from www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=D842F8B4-C914-4AC7-B2F3-D25FFF4E24FB&displaylang=en. Other migration assistants include SSMA 2008 for Oracle and SSMA 2008 for Sybase ASE.
