On the last day of the second annual Business Intelligence Conference Microsoft gave out awards to customers in four categories: Enterprise Insight, Pervasive BI and Performance Management, Business Value of BI, and BI Pioneer.

Senior Vice President Kurt DelBene, the executive sponsor of BI at Microsoft and Bob Lokken, Senior Director of BI, handed out the awards, tying in with DelBene's keynote on Microsoft's near-term BI strategy. The field of potential winners had been winnowed down to 12 finalists, four of whom received awards.

The winner of the Enterprise Insight award, which honors a customer that adopted Microsoft’s end-to-end BI offering in the enterprise, was Quiznos.

The Pervasive BI and Performance Management award, recognizing an organization that drove widespread use of Microsoft BI, went to Intel.

The Business Value of BI award, which recognizes an organization that has implemented Microsoft BI technologies to achieve financial and business results, was won by Pilot Travel Centers.

The winner of the BI Pioneer award, which recognizes an individual's excellence in proliferating BI and commitment to championing Microsoft BI, was Stephen Wetzel, Maricopa County.
