PST Migration, Storage Performance, and Other Third-Party News from TechEd 2010
News and new releases from Microsoft are probably the big draw for most people at TechEd North America 2010, going on this week in New Orleans. (OK, apparently, beignets and wine are a pretty big draw, too—although hopefully not at the same time.) However, many third-party vendors and Microsoft partners also take this opportunity to showcase their latest developments, while they've got an excited IT audience. So in case you haven't had a chance to check out all their booths at the show or haven't seen their releases on the newswire, here's a rundown of some of the Exchange Server and messaging-related new releases and upgrades announced so far at this year's TechEd. (And I make no claim that this short list is comprehensive!)

Messageware Updates OWA Suite 2010 for Exchange 2010 SP1
With the public release of the first service pack for Exchange 2010 at TechEd, Messageware announced that its security and productivity solution suite for Outlook Web App (OWA) will soon be available for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 SP1. Notable in the update is the addition of CalendarPack 2010, which enhances the functionality of your OWA calendar with features such as the ability to manage delegate rights within OWA and advanced calendar search. In OWA Light, you can receive calendar notifications and reminders, and get additional calendar views. Additionally, OWA Suite 2010 was named a finalist in this year's Best of TechEd Awards in the messaging category; winners will be announced during conference. Xiotech Demonstrates High-Performance Storage on Exchange 2007
We all know about the move toward lower-end, easier-to-manage storage with Exchange 2010, but what if your organization is on Exchange 2007 with no plans to move? Xiotech's blade storage system, the Emprise 5000, using the company's Intelligent Storage Element technology has provided exceptional performance on large and heavily trafficked Exchange systems in tests run on the Exchange Solution Reviewed Program (ESRP)—Storage. According to the company press release, "Unlike traditional storage systems, Emprise’s patented technology [delivers] even, predictable performance, even at 90 percent capacity." Visit the company's website to learn more about the Emprise 5000 capacity and performance benefits.
Sherpa Software Upgrades Mail Attender, Celebrates Tenth Anniversary
Sherpa Software and the company's Mail Attender for Microsoft Exchange are celebrating their tenth anniversary in connection with this year's TechEd. And no celebration would be complete without an appropriate update to Mail Attender itself. Available immediately, Mail Attender 4.6 adds support for new features in Exchange 2010. In particular, the new version automates migration of PSTs into the Exchange 2010 Personal Archives—which both simplifies the process for IT and makes those files accessible through the archive to end users. Find out more details about Mail Attender for Microsoft Exchange on the company's website.
MessageSolution Offers First-in-Market Archiving Solution to Fully Support Exchange Web Services
MessageSolution's Enterprise Email Archive (EEA) provides a powerful, enterprise-class archiving solution, either as on-premises software solution or as a hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) offering. Now the company is announcing it has the first available software product and service offering to fully support Exchange Web Services (EWS) for Exchange 2010. According to the company's press release, "While other Microsoft Exchange Server archiving vendors in the market are still largely MAPI-based, MessageSolution’s Exchange 2010 Web Services integration enables the full collection of all data types while taking advantage of the additional scalability and robustness that EWS offers." MessageSolution offers email, SharePoint, and file server archiving products; you can find complete details on the company's website.
