How do I install the Remote Storage subsystem?

A. Windows 2000 includes the Remote Storage subsystem which is used tocopy the data in infrequently used files to remote storage media such as a tapewhile leaving a file place holder still on the disk, when accessed the data isfetched from the tape.It basically works by monitoring volumes and when space dips below a definedlevel files not accessed for a certain time are moved to a removable mdeia.
The subsystem is supplied with all versions of Windows 2000 server but NOTprofessional. To install perform the following:
Start the Add/Remove Software control panel applet (Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Software)
Select Add/Remove Windows Components
Select 'Remote Storage' and click Next
Click here to view imageThe files will be copied and you will have to reboot the server
Once the reboot has completed a new 'Remote Storage' component will be addedto Administrative Tools and a number of new services configured.
