Cloud9 IDE Offers Windows Azure Deployment for Node.js Apps
The Cloud9 IDE cloud development environment now enables developers to deploy Node.js Windows Azure applications from the cloud IDE.
January 24, 2012
Cloud9 IDE, provider of a cloud-based IDE for web and mobile applications, announced the availability of Windows Azure deployment from the Cloud9 IDE. The integration of Cloud9 IDE with Windows Azure enables developers using Node.js, a server-side, event-driven JavaScript framework, to directly deploy applications and permanently host code on the Windows Azure cloud-services-based platform.
Developers who deploy applications with Cloud9 IDE on Windows Azure can benefit from Windows Azure's high availability and "infinite scale" model, which enables users to deploy enterprise-level applications globally and grow or shrink resource usage based on need. An additional benefit of the Cloud9 IDE-Azure integration is that it enables developers to take advantage of the Node.js-specific capabilities offered by both Cloud9 IDE and Windows Azure. Cloud9 IDE offers a variety of Node.js features, such as syntax highlighting, NPM support, code completion, testing and in-browser debugging. (For more information about Node.js and Azure, see the Windows Azure Node.js Developer Center and the Windows Azure SDK for Node.js.)
"Windows Azure's adoption of Node.js gives customers new and powerful options that let them take advantage of the openness and flexibility of the cloud," said Scott Guthrie, corporate vice president, Microsoft Server and Tools Business. "By working with Cloud9 IDE, our goal is to make development even easier for customers and to continue to demonstrate our support for interoperability."
Cloud9 IDE provides several resources for Node.js developers, including Nodebits.org, a blog featuring Node.js tutorials, and Nodemanual.org, Cloud9 IDE's Node.js documentation site. Pricing for Cloud9 IDE starts at $15 per month, and a free version is available for open source projects.
