Immersing servers in liquid is a significant change from the air-cooled cabinets seen in most traditional data centers. How do you "take the plunge?" In this video conversation, Laurent Clerc of CGG discusses his company's process in adopting immersion cooling technology from Green Revolution Cooling, and the considerations in implementing the system. For the past two years, CGG has been running servers submerged in a liquid coolant similar to mineral oil. Clerc, who is the VP of Information Technology for CGG, talks with DCK about maintaining an immersion data center, and the savings made possible through this approach. This video runs 6 minutes.
