Microsoft Releases PST Import Tool Update for Microsoft Exchange Online

For years users have been forced to offload email into PSTs for numerous reasons such as online mailboxes being constrained by limited mailbox quotas. Exchange 2010 and 2013 bring more storage and higher quotas so it no longer makes sense to store content locally.

Still, there are those users and companies that have held out, keeping numerous, local PSTs – either as email archives or as simple, offline file storage. Personally, I know of many people like this, a lot of them storing years of content from community email discussion lists. This creates a huge problem, should disaster happen and the local files are destroyed without a proper backup.

To help take advantage of the capabilities of Exchange 2010 and particularly Exchange 2013, Microsoft has released and updated too that improves the importing capabilities for offline email storage.

Microsoft Exchange PST Capture 2.0 adds the ability to import PST content into either Exchange Server (on-premises) or Exchange Online (in the Cloud). It will also inventory the owners and locations of the PST files with an optional agent installation.
