Q: Can I disable the Start button on my Surface Pro 3?

A: I've had a few people ask this because they've accidently hit the Start button, causing the Start screen to display and disrupt what theyre doing. The only way I know of to disable the Start button is to disable the device that represents the button:

  1. Start Device Manager (devmgmt.msc).

  2. Expand the System Devices group.

  3. Select Surface Home Button and then select Disable from the menu, as the following figure shows.

If you want to enable the Start button in the future, repeat this process but select the Enable action.
