Remnants of Ike Cause Major Network Outages

Ike continued to wreak havoc across the center of the United States, causing the most widespread network connectivity outages since the East Coast power blackout of 2003.

While much of our attention shifted to the financial hurricane on Wall Street, the storm formerly known as Ike continued to wreak havoc across the center of the United States. The remnants of Ike caused extensive power outages in Ohio, which in turn led to the most widespread network connectivity outages since the East Coast power blackout of 2003.

Renesys has the details, complete with graphs and maps of the outages in Texas, Ohio and other states in the midwest.

Sections of Texas remain hard-hit by Ike. While The Planet has remained online in Houston and gone back to utility power, we've seen at least one report of a lengthy outage at another data center in downtown Houston.
