VMware Starts to Decipher Its Own Cloud-First Vision

In the Mobile First-Cloud First world, Microsoft continues to lead the charge. However, that doesn't mean that the company can become complacent anytime soon.
Long a vocal competitor, VMware today has announced a new vision for its own Cloud-First march with the immediate release of VMware Identity Manager which is being coupled with the company's AirWatch product.
Offered as both a Cloud or on-premises solution, VMware Identity Manager enables identity federation across the business, allowing IT to centrally manage conditional access, compliance, end-user provisioning, and Active Directory integration.

Unique Adaptive Access is delivered by a tight integration between VMware Identity Manager and AirWatch Enterprise Mobility Management. A Customizable and Context Aware HTML5 Application Portal empowers employees with a simple onboarding experience, automated app provisioning, and more secure application access across any device.

VMware Identity Manager is available immediately as part of the AirWatch by VMware Blue and Yellow Management bundles, with pricing starting at $150 per end-user, per year.

The Identity, Cloud and mobile space is heating up, for sure. Microsoft currently registers nearly 5 million unique tenants, and almost 500 million users with 1-2 billion authentications a day in Azure AD, and was the only vendor recognized for its EMS solution in Gartner's Magic Quadrant as a Visionary. But, while Microsoft may lead in commentary, companies like VMware are turning up the heat, attempting to provide technology solutions to match.
