UPDATE: If you weren't able to jump out to the web site soon enough, the Surface Pro Docking Station is now out of stock. Boy, that was quick.
Original post...
If you jump out to the Microsoft Surface accessories page and locate the Power & Docks area, you'll get a nice surprise. The Docking Station accessory that was reported to release in early 2014, is now available for purchase.
The Docking Station works with the original Surface Pro model, as well as, the new Surface Pro 2 and provides the ability for Pro owners to turn their Microsoft device into a desktop computer. It provides the following features:
· Houses one USB 3.0 port and three USB 2.0 ports.
· Provides a Mini DisplayPort for hooking up an external monitor. DisplayPort 1.2 daisy chaining (coming soon) will allow multiple monitors to be hooked up.
· Audio in/out ports.
· Ethernet port.
· The Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2 battery continuously charges while docked.
The Docking Station is currently priced at $199.99, and from what I understand there is limited availability, so if you want one you'll want to order quickly. However, I've seen a bunch of instances already where people have ordered, received confirmation a few minutes later, and promised next day delivery.
