Sway now arriving for Office 365 users; gets new features & languages

Earlier this month during Ignite 2015 Microsoft shared that Sway, their new app for sharing ideas and experiences with family, friends and colleagues, would be rolling out to Office 365 customers.

That announcement reaches fruition today with the beginning of that roll out for Office 365 business and education customers.

As Sway begins this integration into office 365 it is receiving several new capabilities:

  • Now supports six additional languages top include Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.  Japanese support is coming soon and there are other languages in work.

  • WikiPedia info can be easily accessed and added to presentations.

  • Access to your personal and community images on Flickr are also easily accessible so they can be added.

  • Grid Cards allows you to organize images that are similar in shape and size into one visual appearance.

“Sway for Office 365 is initially rolling out to First Release customers, and it will become available to all eligible Office 365 customers over the coming months. Today’s rollout includes support in Sway on the web for Office 365 work and school credentials, with the next update to Sway for iPhone supporting these accounts as well.”

Office 365 admins can go to their Office 365 admin page (Services settings>Updates) and choose to roll this out to the entire organization or only select individuals to get Sway under the Office 365 First Release option. According to Microsoft that change can take up to 24 hours before Sway would begin reaching your users.

Of course the obligatory Sway UserVoice site is available for you to provide feedback and suggestions about the software.

Sway is very quickly becoming a crown jewel for Microsoft as a handy tool to create engaging presentations without having to bust out PowerPoint.

But, wait...there's probably more so be sure to follow me on Twitter and Google+.
