Sun and Netscape announced today that they will collaborate on intranettechnologies. The deal calls for Sun to support Netscape's Netscape ONEplatform and for Netscape to support Sun's WebNFS Internet file systemtechnology (a hopeful replacement for HTTP) and Joe software. Joe is aJava technology that allows Java applets running on a client's browser toconnect to Java applications running on the Web server.WebNFS, in particular, looks like a promising standard, offering speeds ofup to ten times greater than HTTP. Netscape plans to incorporate WebNFSinto Communicator, their suite of Internet clients due this winter
