Optimizing performance with SharePoint Out of Box (OOB) is both art and science. It's a combination of matching physical might (numbers of servers, CPU, RAM) with logical layout (number of WFE’s, application servers, and database servers). Things like data storage, SQL Reporting, capacity sizing and disk I/O need to be finely tuned. Just as important is understanding Microsoft’s own self-imposed limits on its system. The significance of knowing how to properly size content databases, the maximum amount of site collections, lists, and libraries cannot be overstated.
In this session, we will take a look at these concepts and how to plan when tackling OOB. We will also talk about the value of ISV tools to further enhance and optimize performance and manageability when OOB is not sufficient for your environment.
We will also look beyond the OOB options with Metalogix’s Paul LaPorte. A key method to eliminating storage-related limitations is by externalizing unstructured data to a more optimal storage environment, referred to as using Remote BLOB Store (RBS). RBS maps back and addresses many of the OOB storage limitations, enabling you to optimize many top performance metrics for your environment.
This session will leave you with a solid understanding of your options around storage.
