Q: The Lync client is installed on my mobile device, so why can’t I connect to my organization’s Lync server?

Did you know that Lync Mobility Service must be installed?

A: Before mobile devices can connect to your corporate Lync server, the Lync Mobility Service must be installed on all Lync Front End servers and the Autodiscovery service must be installed on all Lync Directors as well as various configurations performed. The likely problem is that your organization hasn’t yet enabled your Lync implementation for mobile clients.

The full steps required to enable mobility for Lync are documented at “Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Mobility Guide.”
