Microsoft Officially Announces Windows Server 2016 Will Launch During Ignite

Microsoft today in a blog has announced that Windows Server 2016 will definitely launch at the company’s big keynote-driven messaging event for IT Pros in September, Ignite.

Microsoft will launch three versions of Windows Server 2016: Datacenter, Standard, and Essentials, and finally deliver its headless server component, Nano Server. Additionally, in today’s blog post announcement, Microsoft outlines its plans for Windows Server 2016 servicing including a LTSB and CBB options.

The Ignite mega-event runs September 26-30, 2016 in Atlanta, GA. Attendee numbers are expected to reach near 30,000 to match the 2015 level, but Microsoft would love to eventually reach heights higher than that. Shows like Ignite give Microsoft the opportunity to showcase, highlight, and provide overviews of newly launched products and products that IT Pros may have to work with sometime in the next 1-3 years.

Events like IT/Dev Connections 2016 in October, however, provide the finishing touches that is difficult for a messaging event like Ignite to touch on. The majority of the Ignite keynotes and sessions can be streamed at a desk, while the technical deep-dives at IT/Dev Connections fill in the gaps, allowing IT Pros, developers, and DevOps to come away with a more rounded education on the products Microsoft highlights during Ignite, including Windows Server 2016, but also for those products the majority of companies are still working with now.

IT/Dev Connections 2016 runs October 10-13, 2016 at the ARIA Resort in Las Vegas (http://www.itdevconnections.com).
