IT/Dev Connections Speaker Highlight: Kent Agerlund

Part of an ongoing series, we're highlighting the excellent speakers we have handpicked to present phenomenal and extremely valuable content at the IT/Dev Connections conference.

Today's speaker highlight is the illustrious and enigmatic Kent Agerlund.

Kent Agerlund works as a consultant; author, trainer and event speaker specializing in System Center Solutions at Coretech. Kent frequently speaks at conferences like TechEd, MMS and is the main author of Mastering Configuration Manager 2012 training and the books Mastering Configuration Manager 2012 and System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Mastering the Fundamentals. He is also actively involved in communities like TechNet forums, local user groups, and is awarded Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for his work with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager. On stage Kent is known for mixing “Real World” scenarios into his presentation with lots of demos.

Kent's IT/Dev Connection sessions:

Recently, we asked Kent to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:

WITPRO: Give us a brief introduction to Kent Agerlund.

Kent: I work as a consultant; author, trainer and event speaker at Coretech in Denmark and US. I frequently speak at conferences like TechEd, MMS and I’m the main author of Mastering Configuration Manager 2012 training and the books Mastering Configuration Manager 2012 and System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Mastering the Fundamentals. When I’m not writing or working then I’m actively involved in communities like TechNet forums, local user groups. I have been awarded Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for my work with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and enterprise client management. When I finally get to some spare time, family and exercising has top priority. I love to run, bike and just being outdoors enjoying nature and wild life.

WITPRO: Describe the sessions you are presenting and why you feel the topic is important.

Kent: I have a few sessions and a workshop all of them around System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. The workshop is important as it will demonstrate how good a friend Configuration Manager can become if you manage to configure it correctly. For those administrators still running Configuration Manager 2007, I can highly recommend attending my Migration session. The session will walk attendees thru the challenges and workarounds I have been using in several migration projects. There will be lots of custom scripts, community tools and off course plenty of tips and tricks. My last session is about handling 3rd party updates with Configuration Manager and tools like Secunia CSI, Solarwinds and SCUP 2011.

WITPRO: What should attendees expect to be able to take away from your sessions?

Kent: It’s all about real live examples, learning to keep solutions as simply as possible and yet powerful enough to get the job done correctly.

WITPRO: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT Connections?

Kent: Real live solutions from industry leaders.

WITPRO: What is the one key technology you believe is changing IT right now?

Kent: Datacenter Management.

WITPRO: Who would you suggest Microsoft hire to replace Steve Ballmer as CEO?

Kent: If my wife is willing to move to Seattle, then I’m all up for it. Does the position come with a free Surface Pro?
