Part of an ongoing series, we're highlighting the excellent speakers we have handpicked to present phenomenal and extremely valuable content at the IT/Dev Connections conference. Want more? Get the Insider’s Scoop about IT/Dev Connections 2016 in the on-demand replay of our September 8 webinar.
This speaker highlight is Liam Cleary.
Liam's IT/Dev Connection sessions:
Recently, we asked Liam to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:
ITDC: Give us a brief introduction to you.
Liam: Hi, my name is Liam and I am originally from the UK, but have been living in the US, in Northern Virginia for the past 7 years or so. I am happily married and have four great children, a daughter and three boys. I have been a Microsoft MVP for the past 10 years now for SharePoint, and enjoy all that is SharePoint. However I really enjoy Security and have done quite a bit of Hacking, erm ….. I mean Legal Hacking, as that is a hobby of mine. I also enjoy spending time with my kids being as silly as possible, and trying to teach them how to program, hack and build robots.
ITDC: Describe the sessions you are presenting and why you feel the topic is important.
Liam: I get to present three sessions, a couple on SharePoint 2016, that focus on overall Architecture and then Data and Compliance. I am also presenting a Development topic about using the Office Graph for Office 365. These are great areas and important ones for everyone. Knowing how to architect and build a SharePoint 2016 solution, along with knowing how to secure and control your content. As well as On-Premises platforms, the Office 365 Graph is the future of accessing information about people within the organization, and knowing how to use this and write applications will become more important than ever.
ITDC: What should attendees expect to be able to take away from your sessions?
Liam: Coming away from the sessions you should understand and know how to build a SharePoint 2016 Farm correctly, along with what is really needed. You will also know how to secure your data and utilize some of the great new and existing features to control data. Also the ability to implement policies using Data Loss Prevention. For the Office Graph you will come to know what it is, why you would use it, and how to use it as needed.
ITDC: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT/Dev Connections?
Liam: IT/DEV Connections is a great place where you can not only sit in sessions and learn but a place where you can take time to have those longer discussions that will help you and your organization move from where you are at now to where you would like to be.
ITDC: What is the one key technology you believe is changing the technology industry right now?
Liam: Right now, the big key technology for me is Machine Learning. All platforms are now starting to include something that can automatically work things out, whether it is network security or picture and facial recognition the technology is here to stay and as we all know the machines are slowly taking over and becoming real.
ITDC: Assuming attendees want to know, what’s your favorite, non-technical hobby or pastime? What’s one thing that totally irks you.
Liam: That’s a hard one, I am a techy or geek whichever term you choose to use through and through, however I do like Running, Cycling and Camping, as long as the GPS works, Wi-Fi works and I have cell signal I am good, just kidding.
