I thought it might be interesting to give you a little insight into how I spend my evenings.  In a word – work.  YUCK!  I’ve been working until the wee hours for the last few weeks in preparation for a series of webcasts and to complete article write ups of a couple of my conference sessions.

First, I have two articles coming up in SQL Server Magazine – one in June and one in July.  The June article is about proactively monitoring and maintaining your SQL Servers and includes tons of useful advice from my days as a hard-core enterprise DBA at Deloitte & Touche.  Think of this article as “PerfMon in a Nutshell for SQL Server DBAs”.  The July article is about tuning SQL Server from the hardware configuration layer on up to the SQL Server operating environment.  It is composed of lots of real world test results that a colleague, Jim Drover, and I collected while doing heavy scalability tests on SQL Server 2000.  Think of this article as the “Bare Metal Tuning Guide for SQL Server”.

Second, I’ll be doing a series of webcasts every Wednesday for the next couple weeks.  These are presented by my employer, Quest Software.  I love working at Quest and building cool tools to help the SQL Server community.  If you’re interested in learning some performance tuning tips and tricks as well as how Quest tools can make life easier for SQL Server DBAs and developers, then please check these out:

In addition, I’d love to hear about what sort of topics you’d like to hear me address in a future webcast!  There are many topics under the SQL Server sun, but I want to deliver topics that are useful and informative for you.

Let me know what you think!
