Eastman Chemical is deploying Cognos Enterprise Reporting solutions to most of its 16,000 employees in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific locations. Eastman Chemical is an international manufacturer of chemicals, fibers, and plastics found in numerous products, such as ink, cosmetics, artificial sweeteners, aspirin, toothbrushes, trash bags, tape, eyeglasses, and photographic film.Eastman Chemical, which purchased the one-millionth seat of Cognos Business Intelligence products in October 1998, selected the Cognos products to provide employees a cost-effective way to view multidimensional data and better understand the business. Previously requiring days or weeks to fulfill report requests, managers now can quickly reach vital corporate data via their Web browsers.“Employees can now instantly view a year’s worth of delivery data, including information about 200,000 shipments of 3000 different products to 8000 locations,” says Candy Habich, Eastman Chemical principal system analyst. “We get much more value from our data now at a much faster rate. The time savings alone represent significant return on investment for the company.”
