Q. Can I rename my Azure AD Sync (AADSync/DirSync) Server?

A. Behind the scenes Azure AD Sync (AADSync/DirSync) leverages Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) which does not support a server rename. If you want to rename your AADSync/DirSync server then the process would be:

  1. Uninstall AADSync/DirSync

  2. Rename the server

  3. Reinstall AADSync/DirSync
