The 1.0 version of the Active Directory troubleshooting flowchart is available. It may not cover everything – but it covers a lot.

As I said in my previous post, it’s still a work in progress (for example, I need to complete Global Catalog and Time Service troubleshooting “subroutines”), and some of the cases are a bit  simplistic, but it’s a good start. It’s intended to help the IT generalist get through the initial troubleshooting steps of a (perceived) Active Directory problem to more quickly find the root cause…and get back to all the OTHER issues that consume their day.

See the links to the right for both the general troubleshooting flowchart and the AD Recovery flowchart.

I’ll be continuing to improve, refine, and round out these flowcharts; I welcome your feedback in this effort. And I’d also love to hear your favorite tips and techniques for troubleshooting AD. I’ll post them here for all to use!
