The Top 5 Microsoft Edge Extensions for Windows 10 Anniversary Update

When Microsoft released the Windows 10 Anniversary Update last week it meant that extensions finally became public for Microsoft Edge.

Extensions for the default browser in Windows 10 were initially expected last fall with the release of the November Update (Version 1511, OS Build 10586.xxx) however, they were delayed and we did not see the first public preview versions of extensions for Edge until March of this year.

Officially there are just 13 extensions in the Windows Store for Microsoft Edge right now but with the recent release of the Microsoft Edge Extension Toolkit, a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app, extension developers can now convert their Chrome extension so that they can run in Microsoft Edge. That should mean the number of available extensions should begin growing very soon.

Note: This tool is for developers of these extensions and not for end users to be able to convert them to Edge extensions. All Microsoft Edge Extensions are submitted through the Windows Store just like apps are so they get screened and curated through that process.

I have picked my top five Edge Extensions from the initial collection of 13 and would like to hear which ones you are using right now and what extensions you hope to see from Chrome developers in the near future.
